Ask Your Question Here!:

Q. Hi I have always wanted to have microdermabrasion but is it painful? How does it work? How much does it cost? Thanks!
A. Hi Jo thanks for your enquiry! Microdermabrasion is a great skin freshening treatment which removes dead skin cells off the surface of the skin. It's completely painless and leaves the skin silky soft and radiant. It's the perfect treatment to have if you have a special occasion or you would like to brighten your skin up and give it a real boost. Microdermabrasion can be done as a one-off treatment or you can have a series of treatments over weeks. Each session costs $75 and the treatment time is a 30 minute session so you can even do it in your lunch hour!

Q. I have terrible skin and its always breaking out. What can I do to improve the way it looks?
A. Thanks for your enquiry Katie. Your skin can break out for a number of reasons and its a little hard to give you an exact answer. Sometimes it can be because of a hormonal imbalance or maybe diet or even certain medications that you maybe on. We recommend that you come in and book in with us for an 'advanced skin analysis' where we can have a thorough look at your skin and discuss your diet/exercise/medications and current skincare regime. We can then answer all your questions and recommend a course of action.

Q. I want to start waxing but I'm afraid of the pain. What will it feel like and will my skin be ok afterwards?
A. Hi Barbara, waxing is an excellent way to remove hair. It leaves a clean and hairfree area that will last approximately 4 weeks. It feels a little like someone pulling off a plaster from the skin. The wax that we use in-salon is very gentle on the skin and is less painful that a lot of wax that is available today. Our current wax is a gorgeous pink colour and smells of roses! Waxing is very quick and we use a soothing post care solution afterwards to leave your skin feeling soothed. Your skin may be a little red for awhile but this will settle very quickly. We give all our clients post care advice after their treatment to ensure that your skin stays in perfect condition.

Q. My daughter would like to get her eyebrows shaped and she's only 14 but I'm worried they won't grow back the same or will grow back differently. What's the answer? Do I let her get them shaped or make her wait until she is 16?
A. Hi Scott, please feel reassured your daughter is in good hands with us. A well shaped eyebrow frames the eyes and gives a neat and tidy look to this area. We will ensure that her eyebrows are neatly shaped without thinning them out too much. The idea is to tidy stray hairs and give the eyebrows a well shaped look without making them look overdone. We can wax or tweeze the eyebrows or both if the client prefers. Finally we will soothe the area with a soothing product to ensure that the skin surrounding the eyebrows is not irritated. This treatment can be done every 4 weeks as this is normally when the hair has grown back in and can be tidied again. When treating our teenage clients we can also show them how to shape their eyebrows so that they can keep them looking good at home if they prefer. Hope that makes you feel better Scott!

Q. I have blackheads on my nose and I've tried squeezing them but they don't come out. I've noticed now I have some red marks on my nose that weren't there before. How do I get them to come out?
A. Hi Sarah, blackheads are very common and also very stubborn! Blackheads form as a result of excess sebum in the follicle and an accumulation of dead skin cells which turn black on exposure to the air. The best way to treat blackheads and prevent more from appearing is to use a 'pre cleanser' product before cleansing the skin with your daily cleansing product. This product is available for you to use at home and is highly effective as it softens the blackhead and then lifts it out. Microdermabrasion is also a very effective way to remove blackheads followed by an absorbent mask to help lift out any blackheads that are left behind. The red marks that you speak about are probably caused by trauma to the skin. When you squeeze the skin trying to remove something you can damage it very easily. And if you are not careful you can even scar your skin which won't go away. Why not call us and make an appointment to come in and we will ensure you leave feeling a lot happier about your skin.

Q. My girlfriends and I would like to have a brazilian wax but are embarrassed about it. Can you explain what happens, we are very nervous!
A. Shelly everyone asks us this question and it really is very straightforward. First and foremost we will never make you feel embarrassed. Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us and making you feel comfortable is too. We treat clients for brazilians every day so we are very experienced and very professional. You have the option of wearing a disposable g-string or not and we give you a towel to cover up with during your treatment. We use a very gentle and effective hot wax to remove hair that won't leave your skin irritated. Finally we use a post wax product to ensure your skin is soothed. A maintenance treatment should take place anywhere between 4-6 weeks if you want to keep up your treatment. Some clients take a panadol one hour prior to their treatment to ensure that their waxing appointment is as pain free as possible. Hope that answers your question Shelly!

Q. Do you have a treatment that gets rid of stretch marks and tightens baggy skin from pregnancy?
A. Hi Moana, unfortunately stretch marks are there to stay. That's the short answer. In the long term you can reduce their appearance using a concentrated form of Vitamin A. I have seen amazing results with this product but it is something that you must consistently use on a day to day basis for many months. If the stretch marks are new then you have a much better chance of the treatment being successful. If they are over one year old the chances of their appearance reducing becomes slimmer. We stock this product in-salon and it is available for purchase. I would recommend that if you are interested then call in to see us and we can explain how you can use this product effectively.

Q. Hi I'm sarah and I was considering getting laser hair removal? Although I was wondering do you have to be a certain age? Also does it hurt? I'm not good at handling pain at all. I really want my hair removed.
A. Hi Sarah you do need to be a minimum of 18 years old to start laser treatments. There is a sensation during the laser treatment but not everyone would call it pain as such. We use a cooling tip to cool and calm the skin during treatment as the light has a hot sensation. The majority of our clients tell us that our laser system is definitely more gentle and less painful than other laser systems that are on the market today. I would suggest that you come into the clinic and have an ELOS consultation with us. We will be able to test patch your skin and that way you will be able to experience exactly what the treatment feels like before committing.

Q. Hi I am looking at laser treatment for removing hair on my upper lip and chin. I have been told I should make sure the person is a qualified doctor and that they have a fair amount of experience in doing the job. Also the equipment should be the latest on the market. Would you agree to these requirements and do you meet them?
A.Hi Hema thanks for your question as this is one that is very important to ask when looking at laser treatments. It is not necessary to have a laser treatment performed by a doctor, in fact I think you would find it difficult to actually find a doctor that does perform such a treatment as most doctors have nurses perform the actual treatment in cosmetic clinics. With that aside it is very important that your laser therapist is experienced. That he/she is knowledgeable in using the laser machine, that he/she understands your skin, hair typing and has extensive experience in performing laser treatments. At Absolute Bliss all ELOS laser therapists are fully qualified and experienced. We are also internationally qualified laser therapists with diplomas gained through the University of Brisbane. Our qualifications include the education of the skin, how the hair grows and reacts/responds to laser treatments and how to treat different skin types. This is an important factor in laser treatment as it is important to treat the hair effectively without damaging the skin. Our ELOS laser therapists are extremely experienced having gained our qualifications three years ago and have performed thousands of treatments on clients with very pleasing results for them. I would recommend to you Hema that you book in for a consultation with us so that you can ask any further questions regarding a treatment with us, we are more than happy to answer your questions without any commitment.

Q. How much does a session for the chin cost for laser treatment?
A. Each session costs anything between $40-$80. At your consultation we can give you a definite quote, the cost per session depends on the size of the area to treat and the amount of hair to treat.

Q. How much does it cost to have a full arm wax (both arms) from an inch above the elbow to the tip of the fingers?
A. Hi Phareus waxing of the arms starts at $25 and this is an average price. I would think by the area you have just described it would cost approximately this price but maybe a little more depending on the amount of hair and length of arm to be waxed. Give us a call if you would like to make an appointment.

Q. How much is a lamprobe machine and do you lease this machine?
A. The lamprobe machine is a professional machine that is only available through qualified distributors. It is only available to qualified and experienced skincare therapists/nurses and doctors. Please contact Clinical Skincare in Australia if you would like further information.

Q. Hi, I would like to know how much milia costs?
A. Hi Kezia milia is removed using our Lamprobe machine and costs start from $40. Most sessions last 15 minutes and we can remove quite a lot in this time. For an exact cost call in and let us have a look at your skin and we can give you a definite price for the removal of all milia.

Q. I am interested in the California Tan, and was wondering if an appointment is necessary for this, or could I just pop in?
A. Hi Diane, you can just pop in on the offchance the autobronzer is free. However if a therapist is unavailable you may have to either wait or call back in or make an appointment. The California Tan Autobronzer does need explaining the procedure to you. It is recommended that you allow 15-20 minutes for the actual treatment and for the tan technician to explain the treatment to you. See you soon!

Q. Just enquring about the spray tan. I have very fair skin, would love to try a spray tan, can you still wear foundation after getting one, I"m also assuming you would need to change the colour of your foundation aswell? Also do you have to exfoliate before hand? Thank you :)
A. Hi Danielle, yes you definitely can wear foundation after your spraytan but you would be best to wait until the tan has processed at least 8 hours. You wouldn't need to change the colour of your foundation unless you intend on tanning to a very dark colour. You could also just use a bronzer to darken your foundation colour a little more. Before tanning it is essential that you exfoliate and shave/wax so that your tan is the very best it can be!

Q. I have a fairly large patch of light brown hair on my tummy that I want to get removed, I had been shaving this hair (long story) and made it much longer and darker. I have been told it's too light for VPL, and I personally think electrolysis would be too time consuming as there are several hairs (unless you could come up with a good plan). I've read that elos hair removal is the way to go, please tell me what you know about this method asap, I need to get this sorted. Is it safe and worthwhile? Will it be permanent and do you do it?|
A. Bjana, ELOS is extremely safe and all therapists at Absolute Bliss are fully qualified nationally and internationally with laser diplomas. Electrolysis or ELOS could treat your hair but as you are aware electrolysis will take quite some time. In saying that electrolysis is the only permanent way to remove hair. ELOS is also permanent but is a permanent reduction. It will safely destroy the hair without damaging your skin and will do this over months rather than years. You will need to have a treatment once every 6 to 8 weeks and ensure that this treatment is consistently timed so that we can always treat the hair at the exact time needed. Feel free to contact us and book in for a no-obligation consultation and we can assess your skin/hair and give you an exact cost of how much each treatment will cost and exactly how long the process will take. This 30 minute consultation costs $29.00 but is fully refundable should you decide to go ahead with your future appointments.

Q. Hi, I was thinking of getting a spray tan in the booth, but I notice you only have normal and dark. I have really fair skin, would normal still be ok for me? Thanks
A. Hi Sue, the normal tan would be perfect for you. It is specially for clients who do have a fair skin and only require a light golden coloured tan. This tan is not dark at all, will give you a colour that is light without it looking too much like you have been spraytanned. Alternatively we now offer an airbrushing tan as well so if you would like to have a tan that is airbrushed onto the skin we offer this service as well. This tan takes around 20 minutes and costs $55.00.

Q. Do you treat fibroma (polyp looking bits of skin around my neck)? If you do, what sort of treatment do you offer and how much would this cost? How long will the treatment be and whether this will require after treatment medication
A. Hi Eleanor yes we do treat fibromas using our Lamprobe machine. Fibromas are easily removed within a minute or so using a high frequency technology. The fibroma is safely removed and the skin will be a little red and tender for the next 24 hours after treatment. As long as you keep this area clean from product and perfume it will settle on it's own without any further treatment or medication. Costs begin from $40. For a free consultation pop into the clinic and let one of the therapists have a quick look at the area you would like treated and we can give you a definite cost.

Q. Hi, I'm interested in the California Tan and was wondering if you have to have your face done? also is it a natural looking tan and not an orange one? Thanks
A. Hi Olivia you can definitely tan your face using the California Tan Autobronzer. Or you can choose not to by just placing the hair cap over your face. Either way it is very simple and an easy tanning method. The colour of the tan is very natural looking with no orange effect at all. You can choose to have a light golden colour or a more deep, suntanned look. When you book in for your treatment just let us know which one you would prefer.

Q. Do you have the new Jane Iredale Mini Matte Pressed Powder in stock??
A. Hi Kate, unfortunately no we don't stock this particular product. However if you can't find it we would be happy to order it in for you, just call the clinic and ask one of our staff to order the product and leave us your details. We can contact you when it arrives. Products normally take 24 hours to deliver to us from Auckland.

Q. Hi - using the ELOS laser machine for skin rejuvenation and also hair removal (upper lip), can this be done at the same time or is it two completely different products? Also, I went to your specials section which had a link for August specials, the link does not work. Do you have any specials for October?
A. Hi Anna, to answer your first question, skin rejuvenation and hair removal treatments are separate treatments. We would not be able to do both at the same time. Skin rejuvenation is an excellent treatment for pigmentation and red vein removal. Hair removal is obviously just that, removal of the hair in the follicle. We use separate hand pieces for each of these treatments. My apologies about the specials section of our website. There was a broken link, I have now fixed it. Our October special is a gel pedicure for $65.00.

Q. Hi there, what is the difference between Velasmooth and Velashape?
A. Velasmooth and Velashape are quite similar machines. Velashape is the new upgrade to Velasmooth. At Absolute Bliss we have the Velasmooth machine which works on reducing cellulite and contouring the body. Velashape is not available at our clinic but what this machine does is very similar to the Velasmooth it just works more effectively in a faster period of time than the Velasmooth.

Q. How much does a custom tan cost?
A. Summer tan is the newest treatment into the clinic. It is $55.00 for a tan that is airbrushed onto the skin. You can select from a medium or a dark colour for yourself.

Q. I get eczema on my legs when I shave, do you have a treatment for this?
A. Hi Sarah, it sounds like that your skin condition worsens when you shave your skin. I would think that the eczema is already a skin condition firstly and shaving only makes it worse. You could try waxing to see if the skin settles down, we use a very gentle wax which is sensitive and will suit most skin types. Call into the clinic and let us patch test your skin to see if this would work. If you are looking for a product for your eczema then look no further! Thalgo has an amazing product which works brilliantly on eczema and is made from seaweed. Again, call into the clinic and let one of our therapists tell you about this fantastic product which you can use at home on your skin.

Q. I am interested in Bio Sculpture nail gels. I have weak nails which split at the ends. Would Bio Sculpture be suitable?
A. Hi Tracy yes the Bio Sculpture gel would be perfect for your nail! It is a gel protective coating that is applied to your natural nail. This will strengthen your own natural nail and stop it from splitting. We recommend that you apply a retail product at home over the gel nail that can be painted on over the gel product to keep your own natural nail healthy and split free. We can recommend a product to you once you have your gels on. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Q. Hi, I have fine blond hair on my upper lip that I want to get rid of, would I be right in thinking that electrolysis would be the best option? Also Im worried about the possible side effects, I've heard you can be scarred with electrolysis if its not done properly. I'm also worried about the hair growing back darker between sessions and making it more obvious.
A. Hi Bridget yes you are right - electrolysis is the only permanent way to remove blonde or light coloured hair. There are side effects to most treatments and electrolysis is no different. There is a possibility of burning the skin, bruising or even scarring the skin if the treatment is not performed correctly. Sometimes the client will have a reaction to electrolysis if they have sensitive skin so this treatment is not always right for everyone. It is always a good idea to have a test patch done first to see if this particular treatment will be right for you. I would recommend coming into the clinic for a free no-obligation consultation. We will assess your skin type/hair colouring and advise you on the best method of hair removal for you. Your hair will not grow back darker inbetween sessions as electrolysis kills the hair at the root and does not stimulate hair growth. However if you are concerned about the hair being noticeable then we would recommend to either shave/clip the hair inbetween sessions or use a depilatory cream to dissolve the hair.

Q. Hello, does your monthly special apply to existing customers? If so, does the treatment have to be carried out in March? Also, how does your loyalty program work? Many thanks.
A. Hi Helen, yes our monthly special does apply to existing clients, it applies to everyone! The monthly special does need to be carried out during that month to take advantage of the special. Our loyalty program is based on bliss points. For every $20.00 you spend you will receive 1 bliss point. Bliss points are accumulated and once you have reached a minimum of 50 bliss points you can start redeeming them on treatments. For a list of the treatments that is available for redemption come on in and let us give you a 'take-home' menu.

Q. Hi I'm wanting to try microdermabrasion, does this remove milia also? Do you offer free skin consults prior? Thanks
A. Hi Kris, microdermabrasion won't remove milia BUT Lamprobe will! We have a special little machine which is just perfect for removing milia without upsetting your skin and with very little sensation. Microdermabrasion is more of a skin freshening treatment which will slough off dead skin cells and leave your skin feeling silky smooth. Over time a course of microdermabrasion will ensure that your skincare products that you use penetrate more effectively. This is the perfect way to ensure that you get the most out of your skincare products and care for your skin. At a microdermabrasion treatment we will look at your skin and give our advice on what treatments/products would suit your skin best. We welcome you to give us a call or email us or use our new online booking system to book an appointment for either microdermabrasion/lamprobe or both.

Q. Are gel nails still "fake" nails, or is it a polish that is costed onto your own nails?
A. Hi Shaz, Bio Sculpture gel nails are actually a gel product that is painted onto your natural nail and then cured with a UV light. It is much kinder than an acrylic product as it does less damage to the natural nail. You can have the gel product in either a colour, french or clear colour.

Q. I have a few small to medium surface moles (skin tags?)on my face. These continue to appear as I get older, and so I want some removed. Do you offer a procedure to do so, or can you recommend one to do so?
A. Hi Alayne yes we offer Lamprobe which is a quick and easy way to remove fibromas, skin tags, cherry angiomas and broken capillaries. Make a call to the clinic and book in for a free consult. We can then take a thorough look at your skin and give you treatment and costing advice. There is no obligation and you can make all the right decisions for you and your skin when you want!

Q. How long does the autobronzer treatment last? I am going overseas and need to look tanned for over 10 days. What is the time span for such a treatment please?
A. Liz your tan will last about 7 days in total however you could get a few more days out of your tan if you look after it ie moisturise every day after your shower and pat your skin dry with a towel. Rubbing your skin dry after your shower will result in the tan coming off uneven and more quickly. You could even use a tanning moisturiser after your shower as well, we stock these products in our clinic. Ask us about it after your tan and we will be happy to show you the product. You can then feel reassured  your tan will definitely last the distance then!

Q. Hi I'm just wondering how much a velasmooth treatment costs? Is there a specific number of sessions you should have?
A. Hi Victoria all your questions can be answered on our VelaSmooth page within the website. Go to the 'VelaSmooth' tab on the front of our website for all details!

Q. How much does the Velasmooth and Velashape cost per session please? Also when can I book in?
A. Hi Jodi, go to: http://www.absolutebliss.co.nz/velasmooth.html which will answer your questions regarding session prices. You are welcome to book in for a 30 minute free session at your convenience, contact us via email or on 476 6664 to make an appointment.

Q. I have a couple of cherry spots on my head which as they are on my bald patch are unsightly. Can they be removed with electrloysis? If so what is approximate cost?
A. Tom, these cherry spots are called cherry angiomas and are easily removed using our Lamprobe machine. It is very quick, virtually painless and will cost approximately $50.00 for a 15 minute session. After your treatment your skin will return to normal with the cherry angioma completely gone (although depending on size of spot it may need a further treatment). Give us a call and arrange your visit at your convenience!

Q. I would like to give my daughter an aromatherapy massage for her birthday. Can you provide a gift voucher? Thanks, Celia
A. Hi Celia, email us at info@absolutebliss.co.nz, call in or telephone us on 04 4766664 and we will be happy to give/post out a voucher to you or your daughter with a note attached!

Q. It is my mother in laws birthday coming up next weekend and she lives in Karori and we would like to get her the "an hour of absolute bliss" treatment but would like to know how to organise it. Would we purchase a gift card that we could give to her? We live in Australia so can't physically come and collect, would you be able to provide a service of sending her a gift card in the mail? We would be paying by credit card. Thank you.
A. Hi Stacy it is absolutely no problem whatsoever to send your mother-in-law a gift card for a treatment or a dollar value with a note attached from you. Telephone us on +64 4 4766664 and if we don't answer you can leave a voice message with your card details/expiry date, treatment you would like to give or dollar value and the name and address of your mother-in-law. Also leave us details of what you would like to say on a card. We will ensure that the gift is sent to your mother-in-law.

Q. Hi i have 2 skin tags and 3 red round marks and 2 blood vessel things all on my face or neck that i would like removed. Can it be done at the same time and how much would it cost, would it only need to be done once and does it hurt?
A. Hi Diane, it sounds like you have some cherry angiomas as well as the skin tags and broken capillaries which all can be successfully removed using our Lamprobe machine. We allow 15 minute appointments to treat the areas concern and this cost is approximately $60.00. I would suggest booking in with one of our therapists and we can give you an exact cost and time to perform the treatment. Occasionally a second or third treatment is needed but we will be able to tell you once we have seen the area. The sensation feels a little like someone touching you with a very sharp pencil lead combined with heat. The entire treatment is very quick and we will make it as painless as possible for you.

Q. What is the cost of the Summer Tan spraytan?
Hi Pip the cost is $55.00 for a full body or $35.00 for a half body. But for this Friday only 26 November 2010 we are having a special price of $45.00 for a full body spraytan. Give us a call or email us if you would like to take advantage of this special.

Q. I am wanting to have a spray tan done, I was wanting to know how long you have to leave the tan on for.
A. Hi Brooke, you need to leave the tan on for at least 8 hours minimum to gain maximum results!

Q. Hi =)I want to get rid of the scars on my body which I got from sandfly bites. It's been a long time already and they don't seem to clear up. I can no longer wear shorts/skirts/sleeveless tops as they are on my arms and legs. Can you help me with this?
A. Hi Jaye, we have the product for you! Environ's EssentiA Oil Forte is the best thing! Better than Bio Oil by a country mile! You apply to the skin twice daily and I promise you it will fade your scars away. Call into the clinic to pick up the product.

Q. Will laser hair removal permanently change the pigment of my skin? Also, will my skin still be able to tan afterwards?
A. Hi Mona, no laser will not change the colour of your skin IF the procedure is performed correctly by a qualified and experienced laser operator. Laser equipment is serious equipment and needs to be performed by an operator who is knowledgeable and has many hours of experience. It is not advisable at all to tan your skin after treatments until you have completely finished your course of treatments. And thereafter you should be extremely careful with your skin, not to sunbathe in direct sun or use sunbeds for some time after. Your skin will be much more suspectible to sunburn after treatment. Absolute Bliss laser operators are very experienced having operated this equipment for six years. We always advise our clients to cover up and wear sun protection after laser treatments.
Q. What can you suggest for uneven skin from scarring on lower cheek/chin area. Have tried several microdermabrasion sessions without improvement.
A. Hi Kate, the answer is simple. Vitamin A skincare and vitamin A treatments. Because Vitamin A is responsible for changing the way a skin cell behaves. In your case there is scarring caused from trauma to the area. Vitamin A will penetrate the unhappy skin cell and start to encourage collagen and elastin into the area. Vitamin E is also a healing vitamin and is also very beneficial. I would highly recommend you come in and let us recommend some skincare that is simple to use and a course of facial treatments to start your skin healing. Microdermabrasion is more of a skin treatment to exfoliate the skin and will help with better penetration of skincare products.  So your microdermabrasion treatments have not been without some benefit. They will definitely speed the process up whereby your skin will accept the skincare products more efficiently. Hope all of that makes sense Kate! Come in and see us. We love looking after problem skin!
Q. Hi, I've read on the internet that IPL can be used to treat dark circles under the eye. Is that something your elos machine can do?
A. Hi Julia unfortunately no our ELOS system will not help with dark circles under your eyes. Eye creams and gels will help but also we find that sometimes this condition can be caused by an allergy or a diet factor. I would suggest that you book in with us for an advanced skin analysis where we can look at your skincare routine, the products you currently use, your diet and I am sure we will be able to find a suitable product/s and diet content that would help with this condition.
Q. Hi, I have a skin problem and nothing seems to make it better. On the back of my arms, back of my legs, and whole back my skin is dry and it is darker in colour than the rest of my skin. Would you have anything product or treatment that may help this?
A. Hi Priya the short answer for your question is yes. I do believe there is some dehydration happening on your skin and an intensive Vitamin A, C and E product for the body would definitely assist your condition. This will help with a more even colour to your skin and rehydrate the skin. If you would like further information on this feel free to give us a call or email us here at Absolute Bliss.
Q. Hi, Are you going to be offering the new semi permanent mascara treatment that's just come out in NZ?
A. Hi Julia, no we won't be offering this new treatment when it becomes available in New Zealand. Mainly due to the fact that we don't know enough about the product/treatment and how well it works and how successful it is. Perhaps in the future once it has been firmly established in the market place would we consider it.
Q. Hi how much do the vitamin A, C and E products costs?
A. Hi Priya these products all have different prices depending on the amount of vitamins that are included in the ingredient list. They range in price from approximately $85.00-$130.00. If you would like an exact price of a product that is of interest to you call us or email us through the product that you are interested in and we will be happy to give you the exact price.
